Michael grew up spending most of his time playing sports and video games with his friends, as well as visiting art museums and attending the theatre in the city with his parents. Through those experiences, he discovered a strong love for storytelling through lighting design and would go on to design a variety of theatre, opera, and dance performances.

 

Michael received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Arizona State University and his Master of Fine Arts in Theatre from the University of Maryland.
