Alma Mater

Alma Mater was designed to fill a need in the creative community by creating a collaborative gathering place for artists and performers. The multifaceted building -- an adaptive reuse of a Carpenter's Union Hall --includes lounges, event spaces, workshops, a recording studio, and a coffee shop and cafe.

Dark Light worked with the design team to meet the challenge of cohesively tailoring the lighting to fit the purpose of each unique space. Throughout all areas, the lighting remains warm to foster a nurturing space for a creative mind. Along with traditional fixtures, statement pieces such as stage lights above the bar and the whimsical string bulbs in the cafe provide function while easily reflecting the nature of the building.
